The World Halaal Council (WHC) convened its 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Qurtuba Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 12th to 14th, 2025. During this meeting, it emphasized the significance of Halaal certification bodies globally for fostering unity and establishing a standardized certification system, thereby streamlining the Halaal certification process.
The meeting was organized by the South African National Authority (SANHA) in collaboration with the WHC and attracted nearly thirty Halaal certifying organizations from across the world, including the Halaal Department of the Muslim Association of Malawi, a WHC member since 2007, along with various regional organizations. Throughout the event, WHC Halaal certifying bodies received certificates of recognition from the global umbrella organization, among other accolades. Participants shared insights and deliberated on key developments impacting the international Halaal landscape, thereby strengthening relationships and encouraging deeper engagement among members.
Additionally, HD had the privilege of attending the H20 World Halaal Summit which took place from November 14th to 16th, 2025 at the same venue, which also concentrated on integrity, inclusivity, and innovation within the Halaal sector, reiterating the importance of standardizing accreditation.
