Halaal Department (HD) Engaged with it’s Ulama Of Lilongwe

The Halaal Department has reached out to the Ulama for their support in advancing HD initiatives. While expressing deep gratitude for the vital roles played by the Ulama in promoting Halaal efforts, the Director of HD Haafiz Faisal Kassam emphasized the need for increased their engagement in this crucial endeavor. He urged them to perform regular inspections at certified facilities and assist with new Halaal certification applications, in addition to providing Halaal rulings. This strategy, he pointed out, would improve compliance among clients and recognize the diligent efforts of the Halaal Department staff. He made these remarks while highlighting the expansion of the Department’s activities across the country as a milestone.

Furthermore, the Director encouraged Ulama to enhance Halaal awareness in Islamic educational institutions and to form committees dedicated to overseeing Halaal practices within their communities.

Sheikh Nadwi, who leads the Ulama of the Halaal Department from Blantyre, attended the meeting and commended the Ulama’s involvement while acknowledging the Halaal Department’s significant contributions to the Muslim community in the country. This meeting was held in the City of Lilongwe at the Mai Aisha Academy campus on October 6, 2024.
