Clarification On KFC Malawi–Halaal Certification

The Halaal Department (HD) would like to clarity the allegation which is circulating on the social media regarding KFC restaurants Halaal status. The allegation says that all KFC restaurants are not Halaal Certified. It is untrue, fabrication, totally unfounded and should be treated with the contempt it deserves. The truth of the matter is that KFC Malawi restaurants are Certified Halaal by HD-MAM. Therefore; KFC Malawi is exceptional from the allegation.
Halaal Malawi is hereby to reassure the Muslim community and the general public that both KFC restaurants in Malawi (Blantyre and Lilongwe) are Halaal Certified. All their products and chickens are from Halaal Certified suppliers by the reputable Halaal Certifying Authorities.

To make the certification more efficient, HD deployed its Muslim Supervisors in both KFC restaurants to supervising and overseeing the entire process of production from the point of receiving up to the point of sale to ensuring that in between there are no non-Halaal products are used, or that Halaal products are contaminated with no-Halaal meat, insects, urine, alcohol, animal waste, blood, certain genetically modified organisms and harmful supplements and colourants. This has been the case since KFC started in Malawi 2011 nothing has changed. KFC Malawi has been complying to HD’s benchmark of Halaal Certification all along without compromise up to date. Should there be any change of Halaal status, as usual, the public shall be informed accordingly.
